Of course, the Taj Mahal is in India. We've traveled a lot in the Far East & always loved it, sitting on floors & porches, brass accessories, the beautiful colors of spices, silk & scents, the happiness of these people. We tried to capture a little of this atmosphere in this apartment, it has a nice bedroom and the living room has a hookah lounge which you can use for sleeping as well as a beautiful wooden veranda with a view of the Elbe.
We know France through chansons of the Piaf or Charles Aznavour and the procurement of spare parts for old BMW's. Limoges, the Midi Pyrenees, the Auvergne, there is hardly a corner that will not have explored in this country. We were always fascinated by the delicious patisseries. A little of it is also available in our Café Richter. La Petite is a small, bright room with lots of sun, a balcony and a wide view of the Elbe Valley, downstream on the Schrammsteine.
Fandian is the Chinese word for hotel. There we always made fun of the hot water jugs of green tea & wondering that most of the hotels were always so American. But you get green tea with us as well. Our fandian is decorated with antique elements that you just can not find in Chinese hotels anymore. Otherwise, there are in our house beautiful old cabinets, which we brought from Shanghai.
The former "Jägerzimmer" has become the "Safari". We were often in Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and most recently with the Dresden Dakar Rally in West Africa. There we are very enthusiastic about nature and wildlife. The room is cozy and in typical red and brown African soil. On the balcony, the evenings are like on the porch of the lodge on Ngorongorokrater. Only the roar of the lions is missing. The apartment has two rooms and two balconies.
Once a time ago, it was rather the leftovers, because under the attic. Under the attic it is still, but now opulently rebuilt with huge floor to ceiling windows to the west to the Schrammsteinen. It is reminiscent of a 3-day train ride in February to Bodö and on with the ship to the Lofoten to dance under the curtains of the northern lights. The Schrammsteine are super photogenic from here, especially with a bottle of "Prickel" and maybe with Vivaldi's "Four Seasons".
Mr. Fujisan, the mountain that rises above everything, has impressed us, like many other things in Japan. At that time, more than 60 U $ for the night in a typical Japanese hostel were not in it. So we slept mostly on a rice straw mat on the floor. These impressive experiences have also flowed into Fuji San. Typical items from Japan, one of our favorite rooms & almost fully booked.
As a child, I was constantly devouring Hauff's little Muck, especially the DEFA version of Wolfgang Staudte. I found something in the Middle East, but really only in Morocco. We visited the royal cities in the early 90s with the caravan and there we found it, this fairy tale of a thousand and a night. And fairytale sleep is in this Alibaba always announced even if the 40 robbers are missing. The hammam is the dream, say all our guests, it also reminds of Aladin with his magic lamp.
For the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona an evening card catches and the last rays of the sun through the glass art of a Gaudi our heart seizes. The sunsets in the Elbe Valley are also unique, as the Schrammsteine and the sky glow in the sunset. Caspar David Friedrich had already captured her, the special mood, in his pictures of the "Elbgebirge". His colleague Gaudi is here especially in the crazy bathroom. The apartment faces west and has two rooms and two balconies.
